Welcome To Tony Lusted’s Website

After finally retiring (well past the usual retirement age) I’ve taken on the challenge of creating a personal website. After years of consultancy and occasional writing for a specialist rail industry magazine, I now enjoy having a lot more free time.

Officially retired in 2014 after over 55 years of work, I can look back on a long career across several industries—most notably 24 years in the railway sector—and extensive travel around the UK and abroad. There’s also mention of my son’s successful career as a music teacher.

My BLOG is almost exclusively about holidays – lots more of those now that I’ve stopped working. It gives me a chance to play with new things like YouTube and iMovie. Also, it acts as an aide memoir for when I get ancient, decrepit and forgetful in the future -preserving memories, it’s called……

“Done is better than perfect – because perfect is never done” 

ORIGIN: While heavily associated  and “popularized” by Sheryl Sandberg (former Facebook CEO) around 2010, the sentiment  has older roots. Anne Mollegen Smith (an American magazine former editor-in-chief and writer ) was using similar  phrasing in the late 1970s. The phrase emphasises that waiting for perfection leads to procrastination and stops projects from ever seeing the light of day.
Good example ? Me and updating  this website…….
