Following on from my first expedition to the Normany beaches, there was one place I couldn’t get into in 2014. That was the Museum at Arromache. In 2014 there were queues right round the building, so I vowed to go back mega-early one day. Also, I’d never been to the city of Caen itself – stayed there hotel-wise on the outskirts, but never explored the city. That would then finish off those particular bucket list items.
Another thing on the list was to go to the Le Mans racing circuit. To go to an actual meeting that is ! Luckily (ha – more like good planning !) the Le Mans Classic fell within my holiday period (surprise, surprise), so the tent got some more wear and tear inflicted upon itself, for a few days.
No trip to France could be completed without a visit to my sister (Alison) and her better half (Steve) , who live in Thouars on the river Thouet. They have both “retired” to France, but still seem exceedingly busy all the same. On the way home, I ticked off another gap in my French city knowledge by visiting Rouen, then off to Dieppe.
So here we go !
