Not surprising really, but off to a late start – slept well ! R + R day today and getting organised for the next few days.
I decided that I would have alternate days of being a tourist and being a lazy slob. There was no way I was going to “do” all of the things that I fancied and I didn’t want to beat myself up before the trip home.
It was also getting very hot, up into the early 30’s. Us old folks have to watch the temperature – plenty of water to keep hydrated. I was very thankful for the “camel pack” that I bought to go with my back pack. Filled to the brim every “tourist” day.
The campsite turned out to be an inspired choice, more by good luck than good judgement – to a certain extent a pin into a map was used. No pool, therefore not many children = nice and quiet….. Many, many Dutch persons, mostly retirement age with caravans plus the odd stray cyclist( solo and in two’s) overnighting it. Not many Brits.
Mme and M. were very helpful. She spoke a sensible amount of English, so we conversed in French ! The loo’s/showers were excellent, being cleaned every morning before 7 AM. There was fresh bread available, ice cream and a small bar – all very civilised.
So sitting here, first coffee in hand, blue sky above and thinking that “all is good” – EVERY DAY IS A HOLIDAY !!!!
Washing done and on the line, then a cycle into town to get provisions for a proper camping lunch. Apart from a reasonable SPAR supermarket, there is a proper boulangerie -ooof, the bread and cakes…………
Later there was wine….. I found this one in the SPAR, locally produced, at Domaine la Garelle, naturellement. Very palatable, not bad at 6E70. Thank goodness for the rented fridge.
There’s a bottle in my fridge at home now, just in case I need some French sunshine.
It seems that the “first date” scenes of A GOOD YEAR were filmed in Cucuron, more on this later.
Tourism day tomorrow…….
