NORTH CYPRUS 2019 – Tuesday 10 September 2019 – Day 2 – Recovery time……

Whatever route you take to fly out to North Cyprus (= TRNC =Turkish Republic of North Cyprus, to those that don’t know) it’s still a bit of a haul (especially for us oldies), so a rest day.

Sat around a bit, read book, drank, etc – all those great holiday treats you look forward to.  Hard life……

Then in the evening, it was off to the Kyrenia Amphitheatre  (capacity 3500 bodies) for a piano recital. Down by the sea, the amphitheatre is a recreation, rather than an ancient “real thing”, but nevertheless, very pleasant with good acoustics. It was the last event in the annual Kyrenia Summer music festival. This guy Fazil Say apparently does not come to TRNC very often, so a bit of a coup for the organisers.

He played his own composition The Izmir Suite, together with some of the more well known piano classics from  Beethhoven, Chopin, etc. Most enjoyable. Mostly a Turkish-Cypriot audience, with a sprinkling of expats.
