Still raining……….well more frequent squally showers really, so a bit of sunshine.
I had a walk down to the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre, which is only 5 minutes away from the campsite. I hadn’t programmed in actually going up the “hill” this time, just wanted to sus out what was going on. Next year perhaps…….
To my amazement, the carpark was rammed full !!!!! Some of the walkers coming down looked decidedly wet. One guy had his boot sole strapped up with duct tape, so a bit rough up there. I was told later in the evening that there had been the first snow of the season at the summit.
Later in the day, I tried to go and do the walk at the Steall Falls, but again, no places to park – amazing in such weather.
So it was back in the car and a short drive to the famous Glen Coe, which naturally enough was shrouded in low cloud/rain, but still pretty impressive. It’s not exactly a motorway up there, so progress behind slow lorries, etc (compounded by traffic light controlled single file roadworks) was a bit frustrating. But we tourists were STILL out in force, despite the atrocious weather, all the car parks being close to full.
With more rain forecast for the next 24 hours, I took executive action and packed away as much as I could for departure in the morning – not looking forward to a wet pack up.
