NORTH COAST 500 + OTHER STUFF – Wednesday 16 September 2020 – Day 10 – Dingwall day 3

Theoretically a rest/chill out day, after that long driving day on Skye.

Obviously first priority was get the tyre sorted. Luckily, Dingwall Tyres had one in stock the right size and profile. Thanks lads, all sorted out in double quick time.

Next, I had to find a shop in Dingwall selling camping stove gas cylinders, so a walk into town, as it were. On the way in, you cross the railway line next to Dingwall station. Just pulling in was this beastie, The Royal Scotsman. Turns out it’s a very luxurious (ie very expensive) way to see Scotland by train. Looked nice, probably a bit above my pay grade ! All ensuite cabins, luxury dining rooms, etc. It even has a spa on board. Whatever……

Back down on earth……. I found cylinders OK. Walking down the high street I found this office. I think he’s the leader of the SNP in the Westminster Government ?

On a recommendation, I drove east of Dingwall to  the Rogie Falls. I thought that with all this rain about they would be reasonably spectacular – correct ! Bit wet underfoot for the walking, but all manageable.

So after a pleasant afternoon, it was back to camp and to pack away as much as possible for travelling the next day. From Dingwall to Dornoch. Only a short hop, but quite a few things to see on the way.
