Now we point the car nose southwards, for two nights near Kendal in the Lake District area. I’m not normally one to stay at motorway service area hotels, but it’s strategically placed for what I want to do the next day.
So down to Glasgow on the A82 (alongside Loch Lomond, unfortunately hidden in the rain/low cloud),M8, M74, M6, down to the services at Killington Lake, staying at the Days Inn.
All I’ll say is that it was not the best decision I have ever made regarding hotels. I’ve stayed in Days Inn’s before, with no issues. However this one was a complete disappointment. ‘Nuf said……
A long 250 mile drag in absolutely appalling weather, wall to wall rain. So I put my brain into cruise mode, sat in the inside lane at 60 mph, turned on recorded Spotify and got on with it, with 2/3 stops to combat boredom.
